Inherited from Byzantine Greek ἀντάμα (antáma) < ἐντάμα (entáma) with regressive assimilation [e] [a] > [a] [a], univerbation of the Hellenistic phrase |ἐν τῷ ἅμα ("together").[1][2] (w:Polyainus, 2nd century CE ἐν τῷ ἅμα Excerpta Polyaeni, 57.Ναυμαχικά)[3]
