[edit]Borrowed from Old Persian *Br̥dimanah (from br̥diš (“high”) + 𐎶𐎴𐏃 (manaʰ, “mind”); cognate with Old Median *Br̥zimanah), or *Br̥dimaniš (from br̥diš (“high”) + *maniš (“thought, mind”)); compare with Sanskrit मनस् बृहत् (mánas- br̥hát-) and बृहत्मनस् (Bṛhát-manas-).[1][2]
