Κλυταιμνήστρα
Appearance
Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From earlier Κλῠταιμήστρᾱ (Klutaimḗstrā), perhaps from κλῠτός (klutós, “celebrated”) + μήδομαι (mḗdomai, “to plan, be cunning”). Often mistakenly glossed as "famed for her suitors", based on the unrelated word μνάομαι (mnáomai, “to woo, court”).
