Etymology
[edit]From γεννᾰ́ω (gennáō, “to beget, give birth to; produce, generate”) + -τωρ (-tōr, masculine agent noun suffix) from γέννα (génna) + -ᾰ́ω (-áō), poetic form of γένος (génos, “offspring”). Doublet of γενέτωρ (genétōr).
