Pela
[edit]Etymology
[edit]From Proto-Sino-Tibetan [Term?]. Likely correspondent with Burmese ဟုတ် (hut, “be so”), Nuosu ꉬ (nge, “be”) and Tangut 𘟂 (*ŋwu², “be”). Compare with Lhao Vo ngad and Zaiwa ngvut. According to Guillaume Jacques, this Lolo-Burmese root may be cognate with Tibetan ངོ་མ (ngo ma, “real, authentic”).
