Etymology
[edit]Probably from Arabic خَمَّنَ (ḵammana); compare Moroccan Arabic خمم (ḵammam, “to think”), Tunisian Arabic خمّم (ḵammem, “to think”).
Alternatively a derivation from حَمّ (ḥamm, “to heat”), as in “get heated up” (compare tmasħan), or from هَمّ (hamm, “to worry”).
