Etymology

Inherited from Ottoman Turkish چوغالمق (çoğalmaḳ),[1][2] from چوق (çoḳ),[3] equivalent to çok (many, much) +‎ -al (verb-forming suffix) +‎ -mak. Cognate with Azerbaijani çoxalmaq, Kyrgyz чогулуу (coguluu), Karakhanid چُقْرَشْماقْ (çoḳraşmaḳ).
