Inherited from Ottoman Turkish چاغرمق (çağırmak), from Proto-Turkic *čākïr- (to call, hail); cognate with Azerbaijani çağırmaq, Chuvash ҫухӑр (śuh̬ăr), Kazakh шақыру (şaqyru), Southern Altai чакырым (čakïrïm), Turkmen çāgyrmak, Uyghur چاقىرماق (chaqirmaq) and Uzbek chaqirmoq.
