1. (intransitive) to see across, see over (optionally with lative suffixes; to have a view from one place to another)

2. (intransitive, figuratively) to see through someone or something (to understand someone’s real intentions or the intention behind a plot; used with -n/-on/-en/-ön)

3. (transitive, figuratively) to see through something (-n/-on/-en/-ön) (to see to the bottom of something; to grasp the gist of something)

The archaic passive conjugation had the same -(t)at/-(t)et suffix as the causative, followed by -ik in the 3rd-person singular (and the concomitant changes in conditional and subjunctive mostly in the 1st- and 3rd-person singular like with other traditional -ik verbs).
The prefix can split from the verb stem, e.g. nem lát át or át is lát.
