Unknown. Phonetically seems non-Turkic (starts with /z/). Possibly comes from Iranian adjective *zirak "of cumin, of jeera", from zira "cumin, jeera". (common ingredient for zirvak). (Compare to Baluchi زیرگ (zirrag)).
