[edit]Affixed *yayasa + -an, partial reduplication of *yasa (modern form jasa). From Javanese ꦪꦪꦱꦤ꧀ (yayasan, “foundation”), ꦪꦱ (yasa, “building”), from Old Javanese yaśa (“building”, literally “honour, glory, deed”), from Sanskrit यशस् (yaśas, “glory, honour, splendor”).
