Etymology
[edit]Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *yapurgak (“leaf”).[1] Developed through metathesis, compare Turkish yaprak. However, this phonological process has not occurred for all words in all dialects (see below). Cognate with Tatar яфрак (yafraq), etc.
