Etymology

From Ottoman Turkish یوكسلمك (yükselmek, to rise, to mount),[1] from Proto-Turkic *yükse- (to rise), from Proto-Turkic *yük- (upwards),[2][3] morphologically yükse- (obsolete) +‎ -l- +‎ -mek. The passive form has replaced the base form and the passive suffix has lost its function.[4]
