  • First used by Larry Greenhill in September 1983, writing for Stereophile magazine, but Greenhill credited fellow reviewer and music professor Lewis Lipnick with coining the term.
  • The implication is that men tend to appreciate the performance of a product whereas women focus on aesthetics.
