[edit]From Proto-Polynesian *fetaqu, from Proto-Central Pacific *vetaqu, from Proto-Oceanic *pitaquʀ, from Proto-Malayo-Polynesian *bitaquʀ, variant of *bintaŋuʀ.
Noun

- Alexandrian laurel (Calophyllum inophyllum), a kind of tree with huge trunk and large branches. Its seeds are played with as marbles.
- E wetau te mea lelei e te māni vaka.
- Alexandrian laurel is an excellent wood for making canoes.
