[edit]Compare Massachusett wekinasq, weekinashq, which Trumbull analyzes as wék (“house”) (Narragansett *wek) + -ashq ("grass"), as it was a material used in building dwellings.[1] Alternatively, related to weékan (“it is sweet”).[2]
