[edit]From Proto-Albanian *wedza, from Proto-Indo-European *wéǵʰeti (“to go, carry”) Compare Gothic gawigan (“to steal”), Latin vehere (“to bear, to carry”), Lithuanian vèžti.[1] For sense development, compare Proto-Indo-European *bʰṓr "thief", from the root *bʰer- (“to carry”), whence Latin fūr and Ancient Greek φώρ (phṓr).
