  1. (grammar) A multiword verb construct that is not considered a liittomuoto (compound tense) and which comprises an auxiliary verb and an infinite form (infinitive or participle) of the main verb, such that the construct acts as a simple predicate.

Usage notes

The difference between verbiliitto and verbiketju in Finnish grammar is somewhat hard to define, but generally speaking, constructs of the former type are more lexicalized.
