  1. to come to a standstill, to fossilize

  2. to be petrified, to freeze
  3. (reflexive with se) to have mercy, to take pity
    Kdybych snad do kamene mluvila, spíš by se nade mnou ustrnul.If I spoke to a stone, it would more likely take pity on me.
