- (transitive) to induce sleep in, to put to sleep
- Dvanáctý půllitr ho konečně uspal. ― The twelfth pint has sent him to sleep at last.
- Je čas uspat dítě. ― It's time to put the child to sleep.
- Před začátkem operace je pacient uspán. ― The patient is anaesthetised before the start of the surgery.
