From archaic and dialectal ulk, from Proto-Albanian *ulka, from Proto-Indo-European *wĺ̥kʷos. Compare Sanskrit वृक (vṛ́ka), Persian گرگ (gorg), Lithuanian vilkas, Russian волк (volk).[1]
