Etymology

C.f. Pipil i-uhmiyu (its fur; its feather), Classical Nahuatl tōch-ohmitl (rabbit fur); Classical Nahuatl tohmitl (fur), Northern Puebla Nahuatl tohmitl (wool). The variation in initial consonants is unexplained.
