[edit]From Ottoman Turkish طوزاق, from Common Turkic *tuzaq (“snare, trap”).
Cognate with Old Uyghur [script needed] (tuzaq, “snare, trap”); Azerbaijani duzaq, Kazakh тұзақ (tūzaq), Kyrgyz тузак (tuzak), Southern Altai тузак (tuzak), Uzbek tuzoq, Bashkir тоҙаҡ (toźaq), Tuvan дузак (duzak), Yakut туһах (tuhaq, “snare, trap”), etc.
