turn under (third-person singular simple present turns under, present participle turning under, simple past and past participle turned under)

  1. (transitive, intransitive, agriculture, of plants or soil) To dig up and rebury in the same spot.
    Unproductive soil should be turned under to help the soil for next season.
    I don't think these will flower, so I will just turn them under.
