From Proto-Cariban *tukuti; compare Apalaí tukuxi, Trió tukui, Wayana tukui, Akawaio tukui, Macushi tukui, Pemon tukui, Ye'kwana tukui, as well as (from non-Cariban languages) Lokono tukusi.
