[edit]Borrowed from New Latin trica, coined by Erik Acharius in his 1803 work Methodus qua omnes detectos Lichenes. Perhaps connected to Latin trīcae, although the semantic relationship is unclear.

- (lichenology, obsolete, rare) An apothecium in certain lichens, having a spherical surface marked with spiral or concentric ridges and furrows.
