- (nautical) One of two strong bars of timber, fixed horizontally on the opposite sides of the masthead to support the crosstrees and the frame of the top.
- 1813, William Fordyce Mavor, Cook's 3rd Voyage:
- For, besides one of the bibs being defective, the larboard trestletree, and one of the cross-trees were sprung
