[edit]Etymology
[edit]Probably denominative from Old Irish traeth (“neuter”), then originally meaning "to neuter". Maybe related to Middle Irish tríath, tréith (“weak”). tróethaid would represent o-grade Proto-Celtic *troit- to traeth's e-grade *treit-.[1]
