1. (pharmacology) A medication belonging to the class of Janus kinase inhibitors, used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ulcerative colitis.

     Tofacitinib was the first jakinib to be approved for the treatment of a rheumatic disease, specifically for patients with RA with an incomplete response to a conventional synthetic DMARD (csDMARD), either as tofacitinib monotherapy or in combination with a csDMARD (7-11). Subsequently, tofacitinib has been approved for PsA (12, 13) and ulcerative colitis (UC) (14).
