Etymology

From Proto-Albanian *tserma, a full grade of the root found in zero grade in surmë (“dark grey”), related to Lithuanian širmas (“gray”).^[1]^[2] A derivative of thjerë (“lentil”) as “having the color of lentils” is also possible.
