  1. (medicine, pharmacology) A process that combines heat (thermal treatment) and filtration to remove or deactivate microorganisms, particles, or contaminants from liquids, particularly in industries such as food processing, pharmaceuticals, and water purification.

      Thermofiltration has been used to selectively remove low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in hyperlipidemic patients.
