[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish دستكاهدار (destgâhdar, tezgâhdar, “a shopman, an assistant who helps customers”)[1] (alternatively تزكاهدار (tezgâhtar)), from Persian دستگاه (dastgâh) and دار,[2] equivalent to tezgâh + -tar.
