Latin

[edit]

Alternative forms

[edit]

Pronunciation

[edit]
  • (Classical Latin) IPA(key): /tam ˈet.siː/, [t̪ä̃ˑ ˈɛt̪s̠iː]
  • (modern Italianate Ecclesiastical) IPA(key): /taˈmet.si/, [t̪äˈmɛt̪si]
  • Note: despite often being written as a single word, the graphic m does not stand for a bilabial nasal /m/ but a placeless one, as always in word-final position. The word is always scanned as two longs. Contrast with tamen, with /m/.

Conjunction

[edit]

tametsī

  1. although, though
  2. even if
    Synonyms: tamen etsī, tamenetsī
