[edit]Inherited from Ottoman Turkish تعمداً (taʿammüden),[1][2] from Arabic تَعَمُّدًا (taʕammudan), adverbial accusative of تَعَمُّد (taʕammud), verbal noun of تَعَمَّدَ (taʕammada, “to intend, to do purposely”).[3]
