Etymology
[edit]Borrowed from Moroccan Amazigh ⵜⴰⵖⵔⵎⴰ (taɣrma, “Civilization”) from Tuareg a-ɣrǝm (“town”) or Tashelhit iɣrm (“castle”) from Proto-Berber *a-ɣarm (“town, foftified place”). Ultimately from Proto-Afroasiatic *ḳʷar- (“settlement, town”).
