subbroker (plural subbrokers)

1. A secondary or subsidiary broker.
   • 1918, Food Investigation, Report of the Federal Trade Commission on Canned Foods, General Report and Canned Vegetables and Fruits, page 66:

     In order to pay these subbrokers, he must receive a higher rate of commission. Brokers ordinarily insist on a higher brokerage if they have to use subbrokers.
