1. The posterior (innermost) portion of the stoma (oral cavity) of a nematode.

     Stoma tubular or funnel-shaped, with small cheilo- and gymnostom and developed stegostom, the latter with distinct or minute dorsal denticle and often with additional smaller denticles.

     Free-living nematodes, especially of the order Rhabditida, have a stoma composed of three circular, ring-like cuticularized structures: cheilostom, gymnostom, and stegostom.
