steering wheel becket (plural steering wheel beckets)

  1. (nautical) A rope with a becket at one end and a hook at the other, used to hold the ship's wheel (the helm) in fixed position. Normally used in pairs, with the becket on a spoke and the hook on a ring in the deck.
