[edit]Similar words are found in other Germanic languages such as Old High German starablint, Middle Low German starblint, Old Frisian starublind, Old English staer(e)blind. The meaning is interpreted as "blind with cloudy eyes." The first element is from staren (“to stare, gaze, be fixed upon”) and second element is from blint (“blind”).[1]
