Etymology

sout (“salt”) +‎ piel (“dick”). So named for figuratively having one foot in South Africa, one foot in Great Britain and his penis dangling in the Atlantic. Although the true midpoint between Cape Town and London is near Bangalela, Nigeria, which is inland.
