Etymology

Ultimately from Hungarian szoba (stove), either through Ottoman Turkish صوبا (soba, stove) or Serbo-Croatian sȍbaсо̏ба (room; (archaic) stove), possibly even a conflation of both sources. Doublet of stufë.
