Inherited from Chagatai سوز (sūz /⁠söz⁠/), from Common Turkic *söz, Proto-Turkic *söŕ. Cognate of Turkish, Azerbaijani, Turkmen, Crimean Tatar, Gagauz, and Karaim söz, Kazakh and Kyrgyz сөз (söz), Karakalpak sóz, Tatar сүз (süz) etc.
