Likely onomatopoeic.

Verb

[edit]

smiska (present smiskar, preterite smiskade, supine smiskat, imperative smiska)

  1. to spank (on the buttocks)

Usage notes

Sometimes and especially historically also used more generally for hitting in the context of corporal punishment of children ("smisk på fingrarna" = "getting hit on the fingers").
