  1. to eat noisily (due to chewing with one's mouth open)
    Sluta smaska!
    Stop chewing with your mouth open!
  2. (by extension) to munch (on something tasty)
    Hon smaskade på en skinkmacka
    She munched on a ham sandwich
    • 1980, Elsi Rydsjö, När morgonvinden blåser:
      Hon smaskade belåtet av brödet och fläsket.
      She was slurping happily from the bread and the pork.
  3. (now rare) to make a squelching sound
    • 1980, Ulla Trenter, Skyddsänglarna:
      Hon släppte ner skurtrasan på golvet så att den smaskade och satte händerna i sidorna.
      She dropped the swab on the floor so that it squelched and put her arms akimbo.
