  1. to obscure (from view), to blot out
    Träden skymmer sjön
    The trees obscure the lake (the lake can't be (completely) seen because the trees are in the way)

    The moon obscures the sun during a solar eclipse
  2. to be getting dark (during dusk)
    Det började skymma ute
    It was beginning to get dark outside
