skerom
Appearance
Russenorsk
[edit]Alternative forms
[edit]The form skirom is also known, but only in a song context sung by a Russian, when the sound e became unstressed (because of the rules of the Russian speech when the ending -om became stressed, but probably only for rhyming purposes).
Etymology
[edit]Probably from Russian шкерить (škeritʹ, “to gut fish, remove the scales from fish”) or Norwegian Nynorsk rotskjere (“to gut fish”).
Verb
[edit]skerom
- to gut fish
