Tagalog
[edit]Etymology
[edit]Pseudo-Hispanism, derived from English scientist, influenced by Spanish -ista. Almario (2014)[1] suggests that this word was coined in order to avoid the ambiguity of an adjective or a noun present in the word siyentipiko, but the existence of other pseudo-Hispanisms such as antropolohista, biyolohista, and sosyolohista makes this unlikely.
