[edit]From simbols (“symbol”) + -ists. Probably not formed as such in Latvian, but borrowed and adapted from other European languages.

- simbolistu dzeja ― symbolist (lit. symbolists') poetry
- franču simbolisti ir mēģinājuši rakstīt arī otrādā kārtībā ieturētus sonetus ― the French symbolists have tried to write the source sonnets also in a different order
