[edit]From Proto-Balto-Slavic *septín, from Proto-Indo-European *septḿ̥. Cognate with Latvian septiņi, Old Church Slavonic седмь (sedmĭ), Sanskrit सप्तन् (saptán), Latin septem, Ancient Greek ἑπτά (heptá).
