Etymology

From sendvič (sandwich) +‎ -ar. Appeared in Serbia in 2015. Based on the idea that many supporters of the ruling party are motivated by being compensated with sandwiches; inspired by an article on news site Blic.

Probably not, considering the phenomenon of the so-called "sendvičari", that is "bots", which has been known in Serbia for a while. Namely, in Serbian politics it has been an open secret for years that the ruling parties use the services of "activists" who on the internet, as well as in real life, massively express their support for the politics of the party, that is, state leadership.
